The Rangers are the first team to come back from a three-goal deficit in an away game. In the 42nd minute, the Russian defender of the “islanders” Alexander Romanov scored 5:3 in favor of his team, but at the end of the match the “blue shirts” scored two goals and sent the match to overtime, where the Visiting Russian striker Artemy Panarin managed to bring his team the final victory.
New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin stopped 36 shots in this game. New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves.
The Rangers are in second place in the Eastern Conference standings with 75 points after 55 matches. The Islanders have 58 points in 54 games and are 10th in the East.
