Magnitogorsk “Metallurgist” defeated Kazan “Ak Barsom” during the home match of the Fonbet KHL championship.
The match in Magnitogorsk ended with a score of 2:1 (1:0, 0:0, 1:1). Alexander Petunin and Roman Kantserov scored among the hosts. Riley Barber scored against Kazan.
Before the match, a ceremony took place during which the personal banner of striker Danis Zaripov was raised under the arches of the Metallurg arena. Earlier on Monday, the 42-year-old Zaripov star was unveiled on the Metallurg Avenue of Stars.
Magnitka broke a three-game losing streak in the regular season, scored 89 points and leads the Eastern Conference standings. Ak Bars lost for the first time in four matches and is fourth in the East with 80 points.
In the next match, on February 22, Andrei Razin’s team will host Khabarovsk “Amur”; the day before, the Kazan team, led by Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, will play at home with Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv”.
