Russian striker Vancouver Canucks Ilya Mikheev says why he advised a compatriot Andrei Kuzmenko sign a contract with a Canadian club NHL .
In July, Vancouver announced it had signed the 26-year-old former SKA St. Petersburg striker to a one-year deal. Mikheev himself also joined the Canucks in the current offseason.
– We talked with him, he narrowed the circle of commands and asked me what I would do. I won’t say what commands he had. I advised it at the finish line “Vancouver”. We played a lot against the Canucks, I saw and I know the alignment, and I also knew that a new management was coming to them in the winter. Considered that for Kuzi it would be a good option to start with, compared to the alternatives,” Mikheev said in a Zoom press conference.
Kuzmenko last season KHL played 61 games for S.K.A. , scored 67 points (27 goals + 40 assists). He previously played in the KHL for CSKA as part of the Russian national team, he played at the 2021 World Cup.
