Former Metallurg Novokuznetsk coach Yuri Gailik believes Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov under certain conditions, he can reach the level of Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin.
Kaprizov played 49 games this season in the NHL and scored 59 points (24 goals and 35 assists).
— I’m not surprised by Kaprizov’s performance. I think he’s still a long way from realizing his potential in the NHL. Shows 70% of possibilities. The boy is still young.
— Kaprizov is 26 years old.
— For the NHL, it’s not a question of age.
—And what will we see when it reaches its potential?
– Maybe a second Ovechkin. And what? I know Kirill well, I gave him the path of life. I know his father and his mother. He’s generally such a country guy that he didn’t show anything special in juniors.
-What did you see in him?
– He wanted to play. Desire and health. He will show himself in the NHL, there is no doubt about it,” Gailik told RB Sport.
