Krikunov: “I want Ovechkin to break Gretzky’s record”

Former head coach of the Russian national team Vladimir Krikunov expressed hope that the Washington striker Alexander Ovechkin will break Wayne Gretzky’s National Hockey League goals record.

On Tuesday, Ovechkin scored a double and an assist in the NHL regular season game against the New Jersey Devils (6:2). Ovechkin, 38, has 838 goals during his championship career, with Canadian Wayne Gretzky being the leader for this indicator (894).

– Of course, Sasha is beautiful, just great. Everyone was panicking that he wouldn’t score, but now everything is fine. Ovechkin’s physical fitness is at a good level, he is a healthy guy. At 38, not everyone will play at this level. I want Sasha to break Gretzky’s record and all our guys to be at the top and successful,” Krikunov said as quoted by “Championship”.
