Larionov: “Torpedo didn’t have enough experience in the overtime match against SKA, we had a lot of young people playing”

Head coach of Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” Igor Larionov said the team did not have enough experience in the second game of the KHL playoff series against St. Petersburg SKA .

Sunday’s meeting in St. Petersburg ended with SKA’s victory in the second overtime – 3:2. The Army team equalized the score in the best-of-four series – 1-1.

— Good hockey, characteristic and correct. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side. But today was a hockey holiday.

We lacked experience in overtime. We had six young people playing, winners of the Kharlamov Cup. If we had scored our goals, there might not have been extra time. It is this experience that we take into account. Now we have to go home and rest.

It’s difficult to suggest anything to help players convert their chances. It all depends on skill and composure. I hope the series is long and we still have these moments.

— How do you plan to return to Nizhny Novgorod?

– Today we are flying. We don’t know if the flight will be on time. Short flights always last six to seven hours. It is a disaster. But we experienced this during the season, we are not looking for excuses,” reports the correspondent of , according to Larionov’s words.

The third match between Torpedo and SKA will take place on March 5 in Nizhny Novgorod.
