Chekhovich explained why he decided to switch from Torpedo to Lokomotiv

Offensive Lokomotiv Ivan Chekhovitch explained why he agreed to a swap deal with Yaroslavl club Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” .

The exchange of the 23-year-old striker took place on May 23. Torpedo received the rights of strikers Denis Yan, Vladislav Firstov, Alexander Darin and Maxim Letunov.

– How the option with Yaroslavl appeared, I did not think long. Accepted immediately. I haven’t spoken to the other teams. Then for about a month we discussed various technical conditions, Lokomotiv negotiated with Torpedo. Glad to end here. Lokomotiv, attracted by its ambitions, is a great club with a history. I think the team has a great chance of success.

Preparation for the season in Yekaterinburg with the coaches. I have worked with them for four years now. I haven’t had a team camp for seven years. Last time they were in the MHL, so now something is a curiosity. I also had a hard training, but it’s unusual here that you have a full day all day. It’s easier to prepare for the championship with a team, because there is a moment of competition. When you are alone, you are deprived of it. Plus, the guys stick together.

Have you spoken to the head coach? We talked a lot with Nikitin after the transition. I pretty much know my role, but for now I prefer to keep it a secret,” KHL official website Chekhovich quoted.

In total, 23-year-old Chekhovich played 93 games in the KHL and scored 58 (33 + 25) points with a utility indicator of “-4”.
