Magnitogorsk “Metallurgist” scored an away victory against Khabarovsk “Cupid” (3:2) in the third match of the first round of the Gagarin Cup.
The hosts opened the score in the first period – after a shot by Viktor Baldaev, which ultimately scored the goal, the puck ended up in the goal with a ricochet from Magnitogorsk defender Robin Press. Then Metallurg took the lead, Denis Zernov and Press scored, this time hitting the opponent’s goal.
“Amur” managed to win back thanks to the efforts of Vladislav Barulin, but in the third period Roman Kantserov scored the winning goal for “Metallurg” – it was the first goal of the 19-year-old striker in the playoffs of the KHL.
Metallurg again became the leader of the confrontation – 2-1. The fourth meeting of the teams will take place in Khabarovsk on March 7.
