Athletistic / Hockey. The Washington Capitals have completed a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Capitals took advantage of the Penguins placing forward Matthew Phillips on waivers and brought him back.
According to TSN, Phillips was only a member of the Pittsburgh system for 18 days. In mid-February, the Penguins took Matthew off draft waivers, where he was placed by Washington. However, after the departure of Anthony Mantha to Vegas, the capital needed a striker, and the club’s management turned to a good friend.
- One of the leaders of Washington’s offense, Mantha, left for Vegas.
As part of Pittsburgh, Phillips managed to play only three matches and was not effective. In 27 matches this season in the Washington jersey, the striker scored 5 (1+4) points in the goal+pass system with a utility indicator of -2.
Washington has scored 65 points in 60 matches and is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
