Representative of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) to the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Pavel Bure commented to on the situation with Evgeny Kuznetsov which was sent to the agricultural club “Washington” in the AHL.
Washington placed the Russian on waivers on March 2 immediately after learning Kuznetsov had completed the NHL’s player assistance program and been cleared to practice. Not a single club in the league has started to take away the rights to the 31-year-old striker. As a result, Washington sent Kuznetsov to the Hershey farm club.
— It’s difficult for me to say how to survive in the AHL and what to do there. Thank goodness I didn’t have such an experience. But I wish Evgeny Kuznetsov that everything goes well for him and that he is in good health. This is the most important thing, Zhenya: health! And then you decide for yourself what you want to do,” Bure told .
Kuznetsov played 43 games this season in the NHL and scored 17 (6+11) points. The forward’s current contract, with a salary of $7.8 million, runs until the end of next season.
