CSKA lost a KHL playoff series for the first time under Sergei Fedorov. Previously, the army team lost to Omsk Avangard in the final of the 2021 Gagarin Cup (2-4 in the series).
Note that CSKA is a three-time winner of the Gagarin Cup, and that Lokomotiv has never even played in the final.
