Athletistic / Hockey. Journalist for the North American publication The Ahletic Jesse Granger believes that Russian goalie Nashville Predators Yaroslav Askarov is ready for a full transition to the NHL. Today, the 21-year-old Russian plays most of his time in the AHL.
“I want to see more of Askarov in the future. Right now, there are general reasons why Nashville should do this too. Everything about the young goalie, from his incredible success at all levels of youth to the limited amount of play we’ve seen in the NHL, screams that he should soon become an elite goaltender in the NHL. It’s no exaggeration when I say that at some point he should to be the best goalkeeper on the planet. He’s incredibly good!
Askarov is one of the most promising goalkeepers in recent memory and makes incredible saves in every game. But what’s even more impressive is how well he performed in his only NHL game. Yaroslav has an impeccable ability to change his stance using short, quick movements. “Nashville simply needs to release him to the NHL,” the article said.
Yaroslav Askarov was selected in the first round, 11th overall, by the Nashville Predators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The goalkeeper graduated from SKA Saint Petersburg.
