Head coach of Moscow “Dynamo” Alexei Kudashov after an away victory against Minsk “Dynamo” said that the Belarusian team was not surprised by anything.
On Tuesday, Dynamo Moscow beat their opponent from Minsk with a score of 3:1. Alexey Kudashov’s team reached the quarterfinals of the Gagarin Cup, winning the series against the Minsk team with a score of 4-2.
In the quarter-finals of the Gagarin Cup, Dynamo will meet Chelyabinsk Traktor.
“I want to thank the fans, they created an incredible atmosphere, we thanked them for our match. Dynamo Minsk is a strong team. It does not correspond to the place it took in the regular season. We understood that the series would be difficult and I am grateful to our players for rebuilding and being able to win. The whole series was intense, not a single match was predictable.
Minsk showed us speed and fast play. We played a bit for the result.
— What surprised your opponent and how was your team able to win?
— The adversary didn’t surprise me at all. We were preparing for such a match. We won thanks to dedication, organization of the game and home advantage in the first matches.
— Do you agree that in the playoffs, the lower links take the lead?
— I wouldn’t want to single out anyone, I would say that a player from the nominal fourth line can act on the first line, and that’s normal.
— Artem Ilyenko made a huge breakthrough in terms of performance, did you expect this from him?
“He played well at youth level and was captain. I know his potential, he is a leader, he led the team. It is clear that he is not a super scorer, but he can show leadership qualities and score the goals he needs.
— “Dynamo” has long been considered a one-tier team, are you happy that you managed to destroy this stereotype?
— All players must play in their place, all our players are universal. Did you see how Wil jumped under the puck? Everyone can fulfill a different role.
— What are your expectations from the Traktor series?
— It’s the same story as in Minsk. The Chelyabinsk team did not score any points in the regular season and had a good match.
— How much pressure did being the undisputed series favorite put on the team?
— I don’t read the media, and in Belarus my roaming is generally disabled. But I can say that it was a very tense international series, all of Belarus supported theirs.
— The series has moved forward, what do you think?
