The Smolensk club will play in the regular hockey league of Belarus, said the governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin.
— We have agreed on the sporting integration of our countries. The Smolensk hockey team will become a member of the regular Belarusian hockey league.
We are currently preparing the necessary infrastructure for this. We are considering designating the Yubileiny Sports Palace as the base center for the games. We will invest in it so that we can organize international competitions at the appropriate level.
Another important step is the formation of a strong and professional hockey team. Today, several people want to represent our region in professional hockey. Athletes are even ready to settle in the Smolensk region with their families!
This project will “improve” both our youth hockey and our children’s sports. I am sure that our guys, who will observe the participation and achievements of Smolensk athletes in the professional league, will of course strive to achieve new feats! — wrote Anokhin on the social network.
