SKA goalkeeper Pleshkov set a world record for the number of shots saved in a match

Goalkeeper of the St. Petersburg club “SKA-Neva » Artemy Pleshkov set a world record for the number of reflected shots in a match, reports the press service of the Major Hockey League (VHL).

On Saturday, SKA-Neva lost to Tula AKM (0:1) in the fourth match of the second round of the VHL playoffs and ended the fight for the title. Pleshkov stopped 124 shots, missing the only goal in the fifth overtime. The final net playing time of the match exceeded 158 minutes.

According to the VHL, the world record for the number of saves in a match previously belonged to goalkeeper Alexander Borodula, who, as part of Yunost, stopped 107 shots in the Belarusian Extra League match against Gomel in March 2015. In the NHL, Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 85 saves per game; In the KHL, Karri Ramo holds the record, making 83 saves for Jokerit.

The previous VHL record belonged to SKA-Neva goalie Nikita Bogdanov, who stopped 81 shots in a single game.
