The score was opened in the second minute of the first period, when the leader of the Vancouver attack, Brock Boeser, scored. Note that at that moment, Russian striker Ilya Mikheev scored the assist.
“Washington” equalized in the 27th minute, when Tom Wilson scored from a pass from another Russian striker Ivan Miroshnichenko. And only a minute and a half later, the capital team scored the winning goal: team captain Alexander Ovechkin scored for the 19th time this season. One of the assistants at this stage was his compatriot, defender Alexander Alekseev.
Vancouver remained in first place in the Western Conference standings with 92 points. Washington is in ninth place in the East with 73 points.
