The 38-year-old Russian scored his 19th goal this season, as well as the 841st of his career in regular NHL championships. This helped Ovechkin move closer to Wayne Gretzky in the fight for the title of best sniper in NHL history. The Russian now has 53 accurate shots behind him – the legendary Canadian scored 894 goals in his career.
This season, Alexander Ovechkin scored 50 (19+31) effective actions in 63 matches. The Dynamo Moscow graduate made his NHL debut in October 2005. In 2018, he helped Washington win the first Stanley Cup in club history.
