Athletistic / Hockey. The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Detroit Red Wings 6:3 in an NHL regular season home game. One of the main heroes of the game was Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
Last night, Crosby scored a goal, which became his 583rd in the NHL regular season. This allowed Sydney to match the legendary Wayne Gretzky in terms of goals for a club in North American League history. Crosby spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, while Gretzky scored most of his goals with the Edmonton Oilers, then scored over 300 times (in total) for the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers.
The NHL record for most goals for a team belongs to Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin (841). The top three also included Gordie Howe (786) and Steve Yzerman (692), both for Detroit.
Sidney Crosby made his NHL debut in October 2005. He won the Stanley Cup three times with Pittsburgh.
