Famous coach Dmitry Ryabykin told he had no grievance after management’s decision “Vityaz” does not renew his contract.
Riabykin took over as CEO of Vityaz in October last year, replacing Alexander Zavyalov. This season, Vityaz took last place in the Western Conference standings and failed to qualify for the KHL playoffs. On Monday, the Moscow region club announced that it would not renew the contract of its head coach.
— “Vityaz” became the last in the “West”. How would you characterize this result?
— When we realized that we were 100% eliminated from the playoffs, my task was to play as many young people as possible, and no one set a goal to leave the last place.
— After leaving the club, was there any resentment left?
– What grievances? This is a normal workflow. The only thing I didn’t understand was that we didn’t strengthen and reach the salary floor. This is a sensitive subject for me.
— Not all clubs have good budgets.
“The issue here is not about finances, but about the fact that the leaders agreed to pay the fine and save money.
— For you personally, how do you judge the season?
– Positive. We worked honestly, the team played very good hockey at times. Yes, there was a little lack of performance to achieve the moments we created. We had some very good matches, I’m happy.
— What can coaches be proud of?
“There is nothing to be proud of, because the task is not finished,” Riabykin told .
