President of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Alexei Morozov spoke about the situation with the goalkeeper of the Russian national hockey team Ivan Fedotov .
In July, Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service, the hockey player was taken to Severodvinsk. As it became known to , the 25-year-old keeper will remain in City in the training unit until the oath is taken.
– What can the story with Fedotov lead to? Can they be used in sports companies centrally?
“It was like that before when they were called for sports ventures,” Morozov told reporters. – Guys who are older than me served like that, I know. They served, then returned to the club. We have to work on this, study this question from all angles.
“How did you hear about Fedotov?”
– Like everyone else – from the press. We started to communicate with the federation, saw the request, asked how we could help. As far as I know, there is a lawyer handling the matter. At the moment we are nearby and will connect as soon as there is such a need. After all, we are a league, and each of the guys is first and foremost a citizen of the Russian Federation.
– Will clubs have problems with flights?
We had a meeting in March on this subject. We raised the issue, created a working group. We asked the clubs to send information to those who want to participate in the program on the organization of all flights. But the clubs themselves have found companies they will work with. Now they send us letters of guarantee. The deadline was until July 15, but as the schedule was released later, we extended the deadline. There is still time, and we are awaiting information from the clubs. Of course, if anyone has any problems, we will help them centrally.
Fedotov is the silver medalist of the 2022 Olympics, the winner of the Gagarin Cup with CSKA. In May, the goaltender signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers club in the NHL.
