The Russian attackerWashington Capitals » Alexander Ovechkin » approached the Czech Jaromir Jagr, who holds the record for the most winning goals in the NHL regular season.
“Washington” beat “Calgary” with a score of 5:2. Ovechkin scored twice on the power play in the second period, scoring his 20th and 21st goals this season. Ovechkin’s second goal was the winner.
Now Ovechkin has 128 winning goals in the NHL, only Jagr has more – 135.
Ovechkin increased his NHL goal total to 843, closing the gap on Wayne Gretzky’s record of 51 goals. The 38-year-old Russian ranks second on the list of best snipers in league history, followed by Gretzky (894).
