The death of the Belarusian specialist at the age of 42 was announced on Tuesday by Ufa-based Salavat Yulaev.

The Belarus native was selected by the Penguins in the first round of the 1999 draft and played for the team from 2003 to 2006, playing in 144 NHL games. Konstantin was a partner with Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux during the 2005-2006 season, says a message on Pittsburgh’s website.
As a member of Salavat Yulaev, Koltsov won the Gagarin Cup in 2011 and since 2022 he has been a member of the club’s coaching staff and assistant to Viktor Kozlov.
