Captain and forward of the Pittsburgh Penguins Sydney Crosby expressed his condolences to the family of the former hockey player Konstantin Koltsova and highlighted the qualities of the Belarusian that he demonstrated on the ice.
Koltsov’s death became known on Tuesday. He was 42 years old. The Miami-Dade County Police Department’s homicide bureau announced it had opened an investigation into Koltsov’s suspected suicide.
— Konstantin knew how to fly on ice. He had a powerful skate, he was a very strong guy and he was a pleasure to be around. We didn’t have the best team that first year, but we had a great team and he was a part of it. I express my condolences to his family… Sad news,” journalist Mike Morreale quoted Crosby as saying on social media.
Koltsov was selected by the Penguins in the first round of the 1999 draft and played for the team from 2003 to 2006, playing in 144 NHL games.
