Athletistic/Hockey. Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery has highlighted the importance of Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin’s influence on his team’s play in the National Hockey League (NHL).

“Once he shot, pucks started going into the net. Ovechkin is doing a great job on the power play. We made some changes to put him on the ice more. After the All-Star break, he felt like the biggest games in history. “His competitiveness and his play without the puck, his leadership both on the bench and in the locker room, motivates guys to do the right things and win,” Carbery said on the official website of the NHL.

Ovechkin, with 843 goals, ranks second on the list of top scorers in NHL history. The 38-year-old Russian is second behind Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who has 894 goals.

Washington is ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with 75 points.
