Washington won at home against Carolina. After three periods and overtime, the score remained equal – 6:6. The hosts celebrated the victory in the shootout – 7:6.
In the shootout, the victory remained with the hosts thanks to a precise shot from Dylan Strome.
Ovechkin scored his 24th goal of the season, the gap between the Russian and Wayne Gretzky’s record was reduced to 48 goals. Ovechkin also completed his 32nd assist of the season. Today, the Russian has 1,541 points (846 goals and 695 assists) in the NHL during his career, the 13th highest number in history.
