Hockey coach Sergei Parfenyonok has died at the age of 59, according to the Novokuznetsk Metallurg website.
The cause of the specialist’s death has not been specified.
— Sergei Parfenyonok has died. The Novokuznetsk club expresses its sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and students of Sergei Anatolyevich, the message said.
Parfenyonok started his coaching career in 1988. He worked at the Metallurg school with teams of varying ages. Parfenyonok was the coach of the two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky playing in the NHL for Florida, as well as an Olympic champion Kirill Kaprizov of Minnesota.
After finishing his coaching career, Parfenyonok worked as director of the Novokuznetsk Olympic reserve hockey school.
