Athletistic / Hockey. The New York Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (6-5 in overtime) last night in a regular NHL championship home game. This helped the Blueshirts become the first club to reach the playoffs.
Peter Laviolette’s team has scored 100 points in 72 games and leads the Eastern Conference standings. Note that the Rangers will have two Russians on display for the 2023/2024 season: goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin and striker Artemy Panarin. The first is the main goalkeeper of the “cops”, and the second is the best sniper and scorer of the club.
- Panarin reached the 100-point mark in an NHL season for the first time in his career
The New York Rangers have won the Stanley Cup four times, but the last time a team from the Big Apple won the trophy was exactly 30 years ago, in 1994.
