Athletistic / Hockey. Two-time Olympic champion and now State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov assessed the results of the second round of the KHL playoffs between SKA and Avtomobilist. On March 25, SKA lost at home to the Yekaterinburg team (4:5) and ended the fight for the Gagarin Cup.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate Avtomobilist on its great success. The Ural fans had a great holiday. It is clear that SKA is a special club in Russian hockey. They have the coolest stadium, which is constantly filling up, and the strongest support in St. Petersburg. It’s a shame when such an experienced team is eliminated so early.
On the other hand, that’s what’s so wonderful about hockey. The champion and winner cannot be known in advance. It’s a shame that SKA was eliminated, but the unpredictability of the KHL is a guarantee that the stands will be full at matches and the sporting level will only increase. Equal opportunities for all clubs is one of the principles of the future of the league,” Fetisov said, as quoted by Match TV.
Avtomobilist defeated SKA with a score of 4-1 in the series. In the next round of the KHL playoffs, the Yekaterinburg club will meet the winner of the Metallurg Magnitogorsk – Spartak pair.
