Goalie Ivan Fedotov will join an NHL club Philadelphia Flyers before the end of this season, The Athletic reports, citing a league source.
In the summer of 2022, Fedotov signed a rookie contract with Philadelphia, but he was called up for military service. At the end of his service, the goalkeeper signed a two-year agreement with CSKA Moscow, which announced on Thursday the termination of the contract with the hockey player.
According to The Athletic, Fedotov’s contract with Philadelphia will not begin until he joins the Flyers. The goaltender has a valid agreement with the Flyers and will be able to play this season, after which he will become a free agent.
As noted in the document, the NHL confirmed that “there are no obstacles” to Fedotov’s immediate transfer to Philadelphia or his playing for the club.
Last season, the 27-year-old goalie played 49 games in the KHL regular season and playoffs, keeping five clean sheets.
