Athletistic / Hockey. A rather harmless action caused a scandal in the West.
The idea was that the NHL club, the Calgary Flames, wanted to show their fans where the Russians and Belarusians who represented their favorite team came from. They decided to make it in the form of maps of two countries, where the birthplace of a particular player was marked with crosses.
But especially attentive fans noticed that on the presented map Crimea is part of Russia. And many were outraged.
The Calgary team includes Russians Andrey Kuzmenko, Daniil Miromanov and Nikita Okhotyuk, as well as Belarusian Yegor Sharangovich.
