Former Severstal hockey player Vadim Berdnikov believes that the exchange Evgenia Kuznetsova from Washington to “Caroline” benefited the Russian attacker.
Kuznetsov joined Carolina following a trade with Washington. The Capitals placed the forward on waivers on March 2; no club in the league has taken the rights to the striker. Previously, the player missed a month and a half and completed the NHL Player Assistance Program.
— Your friend Evgeny Kuznetsov has been transferred to Carolina. Was this transition beneficial to him?
– One hundred percent good. He needed a change and the team wanted it. There are a lot of talented players in Carolina, and I was just saying that Kuza needs the type of partners that Washington lacks. It’s a great trade for him, and I know he’s happy. Carolina can compete for the Stanley Cup.
— Did the player assistance program help him?
— I cannot comment because I do not have information on the aid program. He had such a break and apparently it helped him. The most important thing is that there is an exchange and a change of scenery. There is always something to prove, and he took it with great enthusiasm. “I know Zhenya is happy that this exchange took place,” Berdnikov said, as quoted by RB Sport.
As a member of Carolina, Kuznetsov played 12 matches in which he scored 6 (2+4) points.
