Athletistic/Hockey. On Thursday, March 28, CSKA announced the termination of the contract with CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. Honored coach of Russia Sergei Cherkas commented on this decision of the club.

– Fedotov is doing the right thing by going to the NHL, he needs to try it. But it will be very difficult for him. Playing for CSKA, Ivan did not reach his previous level and abroad he needs to play even better. I think he will have to go through AHL school and prove himself in order to get a foothold in the NHL.

— Did the story with Fedotov also influence the CSKA players? It’s unlikely they liked the way they treated the goalie. And the team itself has “not been good” all season.

– One hundred percent. Everyone was a loser in this story – CSKA and Fedotov,” Cherkas said, as quoted by RB Sport.

Recall that within CSKA, Ivan Fedotov won the Gagarin Cup at the end of the 2021/2022 season. He also won silver at the Olympics as a member of the Russian national team. In 2022, he signed a contract with Philadelphia, but did not leave for the United States due to conscription.
