Magnitogorsk”Metallurgist “defeated”Spartak “in Moscow (3:0) in the sixth match of the second round of the Gagarin Cup and reached the semi-finals.
In the first period, Roman Kantserov opened the scoring, and at the end of the second twenty minutes, Denis Zernov doubled Magnitogorsk’s lead. The final result was fixed by Nikita Mikhailis – he scored in the 50th minute of the match.
21-year-old Metallurg goalkeeper Ilya Nabokov played a clean sheet for the third time in the current playoffs, stopping all 38 shots on his own goal.
Metallurg won the series with an aggregate score of 4–2 and became the latest Gagarin Cup semi-finalist, joining Traktor, Avtomobilist and Lokomotiv at this stage.
In the semifinals, Metallurg will meet Avtomobilist (the series begins on April 3), Lokomotiv from Yaroslavl will begin the fight for a ticket to the final with Traktor (the first match will take place on April 2).
