The best newcomer of the 2022/23 MHL season has been disqualified by the IIHF for 4 months

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) disqualified the Belarusian striker Ivan Anochko for four months, reports the press service of the Belarusian Hockey Federation.

Anoshko played for Belarusian club Dynamo Shinnik in the Youth Hockey League (MHL) in the 2022/23 season; in August 2023, in violation of the current contract, he voluntarily left the team to play in North America.

— At the request of the FHB, the IIHF office rejected the hockey player’s transfer request to the United States based on clause 3.5.a) of Section I of the International Transfer Regulations of the ‘IIHF (violation of a valid contract). In accordance with Article 4.1 of Section II of the Regulations, for violation of contractual obligations to Dynamo-Shinnik, the IIHF suspended the hockey player from participation in national and international matches for four months. Before the decision came into force, Anoshko was given a two-week period during which he could return and continue fulfilling his contract at the Bobruisk club, the message said.

Anoshko did not arrive at the club within the specified time, disqualification came into force. The Federation specifies that at present, the effective application of disqualification is impossible, since since November 2023 the player has been playing in one of the American leagues which is not under the jurisdiction of the IIHF. The suspension will automatically apply upon return to a league governed by IIHF rules during the period of competition.

In accordance with the regulations of the MHL, the player was assigned the status “Conflict”, the rights of the hockey player in the KHL-MHL system are still assigned to the Dynamo-Shinnik club.

Since last year, Anoshko, 19, has been playing for the New Jersey Rockets in the NCDC League. At the end of the 2022/23 season, the forward was recognized as the best rookie in the MHL.
