The Athletic ranked Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar first (five years, $9 million per season) and Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy second (eight years, $9.5 million per season). Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid (four, $12.5 million) rounded out the top three.
