The club’s Russian strikerTampa Bay Lightning » Nikita Koucherov repeated the record for most assists in an NHL regular season among European players.
On Saturday, Tampa was defeated on the road by Pittsburgh with a score of 4:5, Kucherov scored a hat-trick. The Russian collected 93 assists, the same number as Peter Stastny, originally from Bratislava, with the Quebec Nordiques during the 1981-1982 season. The absolute record holder for the number of assists in a season is Canadian Wayne Gretzky (163).
Kucherov leads the scoring race with 136 points (43 goals and 93 assists), followed by Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon (131, 48+83).
