The striker of the Latvian national team threw hockey “Spartak” on the contract. What decision will the IIHF make?

An interesting story happened to 31-year-old Latvian striker Miks Indrashis. He had a valid contract with Spartak Moscow, but has now signed a contract with Germany’s Schwenninger Wild Wings.

How is it possible? This is a direct violation of hockey laws. However, Latvian Ice Hockey Federation general secretary Roberts Plžejs said his organization would not sign the athlete’s transfer card. And if Indrasis still arrives in the KHL, he will no longer be called up to the Latvian national team.

The columnist turned to the Moscow club for comment.

– Tell us how the reds and whites signed a contract with Indrashis.

“He signed an agreement with Spartak at the beginning of May,” Spartak told us. – We asked Meeks, “When will you be announced?” He replied: “I will come to Russia at the end of June. I’ll cross the border, then I’ll announce it.

June 27 was the deadline for his arrival. There, the question of his visa dragged on a bit. We made all the documents, an invitation, everything was sent to him. We waited at the beginning of July.

Then Latvian specialist Leonid Tambiev was appointed as Admiral’s head coach. And then Indrashis got nervous: “What will they say about me? I can have sanctions in Latvia. I probably won’t…”

Dude, you have a valid contract! We spoke to the KHL office, and they said, “Well, announce it.” We put Indrashis’ contract in the league. They could have done it in May, by the way. We just walked up to the player and did what was right for them.

When it all started, we even talked to Indrashis on the phone: “Mix, come on, don’t drive the blizzard. We knew at that time that Latvian goalkeeper Janis Kalnins would sign a contract with Amur, and that Latvian striker Nikolai Eliseev would go there as well. But it turns out that Indrashis became the first. And he took the hit. And then he said all kinds of nonsense.

– You know, we’re still waiting for Meeks at training camp. Although we understand that in this situation he is probably not a helper with his personal problems. What’s on his mind… He claimed in it that Spartak cheated on him. But we showed a valid contract signed by both sides in the league. And if the KHL had found violations, they wouldn’t have registered the contract, would they? And here everything is legal – signature, seal. So now the lawyers are involved.

– It turns out that the IIHF allowed Indrasis to sign a contract in Germany?

– Yes, the IIHF hasn’t authorized anything yet. Like everyone else, we learned about his German contract from the news. Now, probably, Schwenninger’s club will have to ask for a player’s transfer card. But this card did not enter Russia. Specifically, we made an application, sent the documents to Indrashis for signature – according to the regulations, the player must have a visa. He did not affix his signature.

The transfer card is now either in the Latvian federation or in Switzerland, where he finished last season. Our position: Indrasis has a contract with Spartak, he is registered in the league. The situation is in the legal field. And it is the KHL and the FHR who must now act. Because it’s an image shot. There are IIHF standards for respecting contracts, there are relations between the international federation, our federation and the KHL, to which we have delegated the right to hold the championship.

In general, this situation can work against Europe. We can also remove players from European leagues when they have valid contracts. A very unpleasant precedent is set when a transfer card does not seem necessary.

– Although in Spartak they were ready for the incident with Indrashis. But we will see how the league reacts. After all, how does it work? You cannot register a player in the championship without a transfer card. If his former club or federation does not respond within seven days, if there are no debts, then the transfer card automatically goes to the new club. But what will happen if the Latvian federation quietly gives this card to the Germans?

The situation is therefore very interesting, with considerable consequences. Let’s see how this story ends, – concluded in Spartak.
