Former Russian national hockey team coach Vladimir Krikunov named Tampa Bay forward Nikita Koucherov the best hockey player in Russia at the moment.
Kucherov leads the NHL scoring race with 136 points (43 goals, 93 assists) in 76 games. The Russian’s closest pursuer, Nathan MacKinnon, is three points behind the Russian.
— Kucherov is the best hockey player in Russia today. Nikita does not go below a certain level. He has long been a star of the NHL and, to some extent, has already gone down in the history of the league, like Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and our other honored hockey players,” Krikunov said, as quoted by Metaratings.
On April 7, Kucherov repeated the record for most assists in an NHL regular season among European players.
