Defender “Tampa” Mikhail Sergachev will not participate in the first round of the NHL playoffs this season, says the team’s head coach John Cooper.
In February, the 25-year-old hockey player underwent surgery in New York after injuring his left leg. On April 8, the Russian held his first training session on ice with the main team. The NHL playoffs begin April 20.
“Obviously it will give confidence and morale to us and him.” No baby. He still has a long way to go, but it’s great to have him here. He’s making progress, but don’t think he’ll be a first-round contender in the playoffs, because he won’t be. But who knows? We’ll win a round or two, never say never,” Cooper told the NHL website.
Sergachev played 34 games in the NHL regular season this season, scored two goals and gave 17 assists.
