Kozhevnikov on a possible change in the limit of foreign players in the KHL: “All this is wrong, such reforms must be made before the end of the regular season”

Double Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov told that he does not understand the Russian Hockey Federation (RFH)’s switch from one version to another of the limit imposed on foreign players in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

On Wednesday, the FHR announced it would consider reducing the limit on the number of foreign players to five for the 2024/25 season. Starting from the 2023/24 season, Russian teams in the Fonbet KHL Championship cannot include more than three foreigners in the application for matches. The KHL has contacted the Russian Sports Ministry with a proposal to increase the limit on foreign athletes. The FHR coaches council unanimously opposed this.

– Either three or five, we have to agree. I really don’t like this kind of throwing. They agree on this with someone, but change their decision: then two, then three, then five. This is all false, such reforms must be made before the end of the regular season. I don’t understand that, everything can change from one day to another,” Kozhevnikov told .
