Toronto paid tribute to the memory of Russian hockey player Amirov; his family was in the stands during the NHL game

NHL Club”Toronto Maple Leafs » paid tribute to the memory of the Russian hockey player Rodrion Amirova during the match against the New Jersey Devils (5:6), reports The Hockey News.

The ceremony took place during the first break of the regular season game. A video dedicated to Rodion was broadcast on the arena screens. Amirov’s mother, father and two sisters were present at the match and were greeted by applause from the Canadian club’s supporters.

Amirov died on August 14, 2023 in Germany at the age of 21. The player had previously been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

In the 2020 NHL Draft, Amirov was selected by Toronto in the first round, 15th overall.
