Morozov explained why young hockey players should not leave for North America prematurely

President of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Alexey Morozov explained why young players should develop in Russia and not go to North America to play in lower leagues.

“We must not leave abroad prematurely and then vegetate in the lower leagues with vague prospects of promotion. All the conditions for development are met in Russia. But in the American Hockey League, players aren’t developed, all the juice is just squeezed out of them. Only a few of them make it to the NHL. And here they work with young people and introduce them to adult hockey.

There are VHLs, MHLs, which the guys go through. There is no need to rush abroad. Do you dream of joining the NHL? Okay, but go prepared. For example, Kirill Kaprizov. He showed up here, came there – and immediately took on the leading roles. It’s great to have someone to look up to in this regard. We have an information program “Playing in Russia”, which tells about various cases. There are interviews with veterans who experienced all this through personal experience,” Morozov said, as quoted by RG.
