The performance record for the Gagarin Cup semi-final series was set in the 2023/24 season, the KHL press service reports.
Metallurg Magnitogorsk forward Dmitry Silantiev opened the scoring in the 9th minute of the seventh match of the Fonbet KHL Championship playoff series against Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist. His goal was the 38th of the series. Previously, the highest number of goals in the semi-finals was scored in the 2010/11 season – Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and Atlant near Moscow scored a total of 37 goals.
Later in the match between Metallurg and Avtomobilist, Danila Yurov and Maxim Denezhkin scored goals, bringing the number of goals in the series to 40.
