Athletistic/Hockey. Honored Russia coach Vladimir Krikunov expressed hope for the success of Washington Capitals’ Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin in his quest to break Wayne Gretzky’s NHL goals record. Ovechkin has currently scored 852 goals and is 42 goals behind the record.

“We really want Sasha Ovechkin and his team to qualify for the NHL playoffs and surpass Wayne Gretzky in two years, setting a new record. I’m sure the whole country is worried about him. We will also support Sasha,” Krikunov noted in an interview with a correspondent of “Championship”.

The Washington Capitals will play an important game against Boston on the evening of April 16. The Capitals currently occupy the second wild card spot and are tied for the playoffs with Detroit and Philadelphia.
