Tampa Point forward: “I’m not surprised by Kucherov’s achievement, he works hard every day”

Before “Tampa Bay Lightning » Braden Point admitted he wasn’t surprised by his teammate’s historic feat Nikita Koucherov .

In a 6-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kucherov gave his 100th assist of the season assisting Point. The Russian became the fifth hockey player in history to reach this record during the regular season, and the first European to total 100 assists in an NHL championship.

– He loves playing like that. I just grabbed the puck, threw it and hoped it would go in the goal. At the start of the game he took me offside to shoot twice with passes, but Martin Jones made some good saves. I was a little nervous, but then I was very happy when the puck landed in the goal.

44 goals and 100 assists in one season is incredible. I watch Kucherov every day and I’m not surprised by his achievement, given how hard and smart he works,” Point told the NHL’s official website.

Kucherov leads the NHL’s list of top scorers; the 30-year-old striker has 144 points (44+100). The closest pursuer, Nathan MacKinnon of Colorado, has six points less and will have one more game this regular season.
