The 23-year-old forward made his debut in the regular season match against Pittsburgh, which ended in a 5:4 victory for the Islanders. Iskhakov spent 14 minutes 11 seconds on the ice, had two shots on target and gave an assist.
Iskhakov graduated from Dynamo Moscow. He was selected by the Islanders in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
The record for the number of Russians in the NHL was set in the 2000/01 season, when 72 domestic hockey players played at least one match in the regular season.
