“Hashek is aiming for the presidency of the Czech Republic. It seems that Russophobia is part of his program. Where do the Dominator’s anti-Russian appeals come from?

“Yashkin is a Russian, even though he grew up in the Czech Republic”

“The ‘democrat’ Gashek surprises me a lot with his current speeches”, says Boris Mayorov. – And where are all these Western freedoms – speech, movement? These are the basic assumptions of any democratic society. Why are they offered to be destroyed so crudely and cynically?

– Especially when it comes to Yashkin.

– Yes, he’s actually a Russian. Let him grow up in the Czech Republic, study hockey there, play for the national team. But his whole family is originally from Siberia. Dmitry’s father is also a hockey player. It so happened that in the difficult 1990s for sport, he left to play in the Czech Republic and stayed there to live. But this does not mean that all roots in Russia have been severed for him and his family.

– Why does Hasek have such thoughts about Russian hockey? In addition, he broadcasts them publicly and quite often.

– As you know, Dominik began his political career, he is aiming for the presidency of the Czech Republic. Apparently, all these statements are now part of his political program. He is trying to raise his rating on the anti-Russian wave. Now, if he comes to power, let him try to start his activities with such bans. I don’t think the public will support him in this regard.

In general, there is a rule in science – in a series of experiments, extreme results are always rejected. I hope Hasek’s statements are from the same series. They are so extreme and ridiculous that they are simply not worth considering.

“Dominik did not get along with Rzhiga at Spartak”

– Hasek, after all, ended his career in your native Spartak. And then he didn’t seem to declare his intolerance towards our country.

– I did not communicate closely with Dominik myself, but I did not hear anything like that about him during these years. Here with the head coach of Spartak Milos Rzhiga, by the way, also Czech, Hasek did not have quite normal relations. Riha let me know once in a private conversation. And I immediately asked, “Why did you take it?”

– And what did Rzhiga answer?

– That for the promotion of the team, for its image, a famous NHL goalkeeper was invited. But at the same time, if I understand correctly, Dominik took too much on himself, interfered in the training process. And on this basis, they had difficulties with the coach, a kind of mutual dissatisfaction.

“In Europe, at the mention of Russia, people already faint”

– Don’t you think that Hasek’s current calls for bans against Russia in sports are already too much?

– I am generally amazed at the extent of the Russophobia that has engulfed Europe and North America. At the same time, Russia is in contact with the Middle and Far East, Africa, South America, and nowhere else is there anything like it. But in Europe, people seem to faint immediately when they hear about Russia!

I don’t understand this hatred. You remember the story – Russia never attacked Europe. All we do is fight the aggressors. Either Poles, then Swedes, French, Germans… And this hatred goes on all fronts, including sports. We’re going to cut it here, we won’t let it in here, we’ll limit it there… The only exception is the United States. There, when it comes to trade, we immediately want to spit on Russophobia. This mainly applies to the NHL. When it comes to money, in America Russophobia is instantly forgotten.

— The organizers of the 2024 Summer Olympics came up with the slogan “Wide-Open Games”. At the same time, the IOC already makes it clear that Russian athletes will not be allowed there. Are they harassed?

“I think a lot of things will change in the world in two years. Including the Olympics. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to say that our athletes won’t be there. Because all Games, summer and winter, lose a lot without our athletes. But that can’t be ruled out either. Look, our athletics has not been a member of the international federation for many years. They simply stifle this sport in our country.
