Athletistic / Hockey. On April 18, NHL management approved the move of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City (Utah, United States). A few hours later, the media were able to find out what name the new league club could receive.
According to Detroit Hockey, on April 16, the United States Patent and Trademark Office received a trademark application for the following names: “Utah Blizzard,” “Utah Hockey Club,” “Utah Venom” and “Utah Fury.”
Note that all of these names have matching domain registrations that were made anonymously in early April.
The NHL decided to move the franchise from Arizona because construction of a modern arena cannot begin in that state. For the past two seasons, the Arizona Coyotes have played in a college arena that seats just over 4,500 people. Interestingly, the owner of this franchise can reclaim the club if within five years he completely builds a new modern complex suitable for an NHL team.
