Hockey players, coaching staff and management of Yekaterinburg “Motorist” received bronze medals from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for the 2023/24 season, the team’s press service reports.
The event took place in the presence of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, as well as the Vice-President of the KHL, Andrei Tochitsky.
The head coach of the Avtomobilist Nikolai Zavarukhin also received a personal award from the head of the region – the badge “For services to the Sverdlovsk region”, II degree.
Avtomobilist took fifth place in the Eastern Conference during the KHL regular season this season. In the first round of the playoffs, the Yekaterinburg team defeated Kazan Ak Bars (4-1), in the second round – SKA St. Petersburg (4-1) and in the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup they lost to Magnitogorsk Metallurg. (3-4).
