Ukraine U-18 national hockey team beat Austria in the last round of the youth championship World Cup 2024 in Division IA – 3:2.
The first period passed without goals. Austria scored two goals in the second 20 minutes, to which the blue-and-yellows responded with a goal from Bogdan Trushchenko.
In the final period, Ukraine was able to equalize the score. At the end of normal time, the Austrians, trying to preserve their last chances for first place in the division, playing in the minority, removed the goalkeeper. As a result, Daniil Shulga hit the empty net and brought victory.
The Ukrainian team temporarily took first place in Division IA, scoring 13 points out of a possible 15. The blue-and-yellows have the opportunity to bypass Germany U-18 if they later beat one of the outsiders, Denmark.
